Insurance FAQ:

Is Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy covered by my insurance provider?

In many instances, yes! ABA coverage is mandated to be covered by insurance in a vast majority of the states in the USA. However, in order to receive ABA, services must be pre approved and authorizations must be obtained from your provider. The Communication Lab team will work with you to collect all necessary information and submit requests to begin ABA services to your provider. We will also be here to answer any questions and guide you through the complex world of insurance.

What documentation will I need to start ABA?

Prior to starting ABA services it is important to provide the necessary documentation to our authorization team so a request to an insurance provider can be sent and approved. Having these documents prepared ahead of time will help facilitate your ABA services starting quickly.

Documentation needed to begin ABA services might include:

  • A copy of the front and back of your insurance card.

  • Diagnostic Evaluation that indicated a diagnosis of autism was given. The original diagnosis and any subsequent evaluations should be provided.

  • A referral from a medical doctor or Licensed Psychiatrist stating that ABA is a medically necessary therapy for your child.

At Communication Lab we are committed to helping families navigate critical first steps after a child receives an autism diagnosis, and continue ABA services into adulthood if needed. If you are a parent or caregiver of a child who has recently been diagnosed with autism, and do not know where to start, please connect with us to see how we can help guide you in those imperative next steps. We’re here to help.
